2024 (5th) China International Forum on Museum and Art Gallery Lighting
The 2024 forum was organized by the China Electronics Energy Conservation Technology Association (CEECTA), in collaboration with the Exhibition Art Committee of the Chinese Museums Association, the Display and Exhibition Professional Committee of the Sichuan Museums Association, Sichuan University Museum, and Sanxingdui Museum.
The event was hosted by the Electrical and Lighting Committee of CEECTA and received academic support from the Sichuan Illuminating Engineering Society.

The forum featured 13 invited experts who delivered keynote presentations and engaged in in-depth discussions on museum lighting environments and exhibition illumination systems.
Ms. Ai Jing, Researcher at the National Museum of China, delivered an insightful presentation titled "Interpreting Lighting Enhancement Solutions for Historic Display Cases: A Case Study of the 'Ancient China' Exhibition Cabinet Lighting Upgrade at the National Museum of China."
Mr. Lu Dongping, Head of Museum Lighting Products at Mayalit, presented a keynote titled “Tools, Techniques, and Fields in Exhibition Lighting: The Mayalit Approach.”
In his presentation, Mr. Lu examined three essential dimensions in exhibition lighting design—equipment (tools), technology (techniques), and spatial energy fields (fields).
He addressed common challenges and contradictions in exhibition lighting and introduced Mayalit's tailored design principle: “one object, one solution; one exhibition, one strategy.” By showcasing real-world applications, he demonstrated how Mayalit’s integrated solutions enable harmonious and context-sensitive lighting environments for museums and cultural spaces.
Mr. Luo Tao, Deputy Director of the Light Environment & Lighting Research Center at the Institute of Building Environment and Energy, China Academy of Building Research, delivered an insightful presentation titled "High-Quality Lighting Infrastructure Systems: Driving Excellence in Museum Development."
Dr. Zhang Dong, from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and cultural heritage in his presentation “AI + Museums: Bringing Cultural Artifacts to Life.”
Mr. Du Changqing, Founder of Dynalite Intelligent Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., captivated the audience with his keynote “The Light Quintet: Visual Art Flowing Through Air.”
Prof. Chen Yaodong, Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at Southwest Jiaotong University, presented “Smart Lighting in Museums: Current Needs, Research Status, and Future Visions.”
Prof. Yang Guan, faculty member and Master's supervisor specializing in Lighting Art Design at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, shared her research on display-specific lighting design in her talk “Exhibition Lighting Research and Optimization Design for the Qing Dynasty ‘Haiyan Heqing’ Porcelain Zun.”
Mr. Suo Jingling, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Department at the Capital Museum, shared his expertise in a presentation titled “Creating Optimal Lighting Environments for Museum Exhibitions.”
Mr. Zheng Hailiang, Key Account Manager at Beijing Bonaming Glass Co., Ltd., delivered a talk on “Museum Display Case Glass – Renovation & Replacement Services.”
Dr. Li Zhenzhen, from the Department of Optical Engineering at Zhejiang University, presented “Research and Standards for Quantitative Metrics of Museum Lighting Quality.”
Following the keynote sessions, the forum proceeded to a panel discussion session. Distinguished scholars, industry experts, and lighting designers exchanged views on current challenges and innovations in museum lighting. The dialogue drew from a range of disciplines and case studies, generating fresh insights into exhibition design, lighting technology, and heritage preservation, leaving attendees with meaningful takeaways and forward-looking perspectives.

At the forum, Mayalit Lighting presented its signature product series—Ajaw, Pax, and Imix—demonstrating their adaptability across diverse museum and gallery settings. Notably, each series incorporates smart control systems and dynamic spotlight-switching technology, aligning with current trends in smart exhibition lighting.
